A picture book by Braxton Deichen

What could possibly go wrong?

When Braxton’s wild idea becomes a real dinner guest, everything turns to chaos. Inspired by a family trip to the zoo, eight-year-old Braxton imagines what might happen if an orangutan came over for dinner. The best ideas often begin with a simple question: “What if?”

"Wonderful children's book. Exceptional graphics and well thought out design. Most impressive is this was designed and conceived by an 8 year old. My buddy's little girl wants to read it over and over."

"My 4 and 6 year old sons absolutely loved it. My kids thought the spaghetti scene was hilarious — they were still talking about it days later and even drawing pictures of the orangutan in the spaghetti. Definitely a great choice for story-time."

About the Author

Inspired by a true moment after a family visit to the Seattle Zoo.

The day after seeing the orangutans there, Braxton turned to his dad on the drive to school and said, “Hey Dad, what if I made a story about an orangutan coming over for dinner?” That single question sparked everything.

Together, they imagined the funny chaos that might unfold if an orangutan became a dinner guest, and this story was born. At just eight years old, Braxton became the author of his first book, bringing his idea to life using his creativity.

He is already wondering which animal to invite next.
